John Wilkes: Paintings Naples at Night

John Wilkes has taken his fascination with nocturnal urban landscapes to Naples, Italy in this new body of work. The acid colors of sodium vapor lighting are only the most recent layer in the many ancient veneers of the Neapolitan streetscape, and these new paintings, completed since his excursion there in 2016, capture the mysterious chaos of that fascinating place.

Rude Ink Spring/Summer 2018

Rude Ink. Spring / Summer 2018 is a video art installation and premiere, billed as
a faux fashion week event. The installation will feature 3 new videos and a series
of paintings by Rude Ink. The artwork focuses on the effect that the fashion
industry has on our perceptions of body image, material needs, and relationships,
using high fashion culture as a parallel for behavior.

The event will be co-hosted by Prospect Range Gallery in Brooklyn, featuring
performances by local musician Pastel Hell and dance collaborative Fooju Dance.
The videos presented feature the performers Janelle Lawrence, Gabrielle
Lenhard, Alex Fox Tschan, and Nadia Semichat. Some of the work has been
shot and edited in collaboration with Mike Petrow.

Pete Sinjin: PAINTINGS

Prospect Range Projects is pleased to present oil paintings by Pete Sinjin. Observing his subjects directly, painting on-site in often harsh conditions, Pete emphasizes the act of looking at the world, to light and the time of day, to passing seasons and to the simplicity of looking carefully without distraction. Today, this is a radical approach and this body of work has a fresh and rewarding presence.

Reuben Radding - Street Record

Prospect Range is pleased to present Street Record, an exhibition of photographs by Brooklyn photographer Reuben Radding. A reception for the artist will be held on December 2nd, 6-9 p.m.

Radding's work accelerates the tradition of urban street photography with uncanny timing and an eye for the feverish dynamism of urban celebration and unselfconscious social interaction. The genre is alive and well in his hands.

NOTE: Gallery will be closed on December 24th, 30th and 31st

John Wilkes - Paintings of the Gowanus at Night

John Wilkes paints directly on photographs of the Gowanus Canal taken at night. The images disintegrate beneath the brushwork, and hover between the surface quality of the painting and the moody tone of the original exposure. The works range on size but all of them display a master's painterly touch combined with a deep familiarity with place and time.

Dan Drossman-Paintings and Drawings

An exhibition of drawings and paintings by Dan Drossman.

Drossman's work uses elements of graffiti, cartooning and abstraction to create dynamic, comical and sometimes dark images that reflect the artist's struggle with chronic back pain. His process is both cathartic for him and accessible to his audience through a deft use of line, color and other formal elements. Works range in size from small to large, and employ marker, acrylic, charcoal and mixed media on paper and canvas.
